Lunch time clubs

The school’s Learning Mentor has been running lunch time clubs on Mondays for Year 7, and on Tuesdays for Year 9.  These have been very popular this term with between 10 and 15 girls attending each week.  The girls use this time to talk about any problems they may be having in school, or anything at all that they would like to talk about in a safe group environment.  The sessions have been fun and really useful; helping pupils see that often we all share the same problems and can really help each other if we take the time to listen! The sessions are Mondays at 11.50 for Year 7 and Tuesdays at 12.40 for Year 9- they are held in St.Gabriel’s.  If there are any other  pupils that would like to join, please come along! If we have a lot of extra pupils who are interested, we may be able to set up more sessions. Here is an example of what some of  the girls have said about circle time:“I think it’s really fun and a good way to interact with people and see if you have the same problem”“I enjoy circle time because it’s fun and we get to express our feelings”“I make more and more friends”
“I enjoyed these sessions because it was very interesting, it taught us about ourselves and others”
“I have really enjoyed these classes and talking about issues that other people feel about.  I think that they have helped me in ways to deal with problems….I have realised what I am like as a person and how I can be a better person."
