Results Day - 21st August 2025

Dear Parent/Carer,

Arrangements for results day – Thursday 21st August 2026 (8.30am – 9.30am)

We hope that this email finds you and your families well. All of our Year 11s worked incredibly hard during the exam period and we hope that they are enjoying themselves now that their exams have finished. We know some students have organised work experience and extra-curricular projects such as Ursuline Links (already thinking about those UCAS applications!) and we hope these are going well too. Some students we have spoken with have already begun their Sixth Form preparation, making a start on their pre-enrollment work which some schools have sign posted - incredibly diligent and praise worthy but do make sure they take some time to rest and recuperate too!

We look forward to seeing the students at their Prom on Friday 4th July.

Now that exams have finished, our focus shifts to results and post-results services.

Weather permitting, we hope to hold results day outside in the Quad where pupils will collect their results in form groups. Pupils should arrive between 8.30am and 9.30am. If bad weather prevents us from holding results day outside, we will relocate to the Main Hall. We will only be able to accommodate pupils on the school site. Family members will not be able to collect results alongside pupils.

Schools are not permitted to provide GCSE results via telephone or email. If a pupil is unable to pick up results, they (not their parent) must nominate a responsible person to collect results on their behalf. Pupils must provide written confirmation to Mrs Coomber (exams@stursulas.com) by Friday 11th July 2025. In this email the student should state their full name and form as well as the full name of the person they have nominated to collect their results. On results day, the nominated individual will need to bring photo ID with them to collect the results.

Once students have collected their results, we advise students to go straight to their Post-16 destination to inform the provider of their results. We advise this even if your child has not achieved the conditional results in their offer letters. Liaising with the Post-16 destinations is the best way to determine next steps. We are always happy to support this and are more than happy to speak with Post-16 destinations.

Post-results services
We hope that your child will be happy with their results, however if your child receives a grade that is lower than expected, they may want to consider using the awarding bodies ‘Review of Results’ (ROR) services which are available through the school.

These are:

  • Service 1: Clerical re-check which will include the following checks: check that all parts of the script have been marked, the totalling of marks and the recording of marks (25th September)
  • Service 2: Review of marking which will ensure a review of the original marking to ensure that the mark scheme has been applied correctly (25th September)
  • Service 3: Review of moderation, this is a review of the  original sample only and not a re-moderation of individual candidates' work.
  • ATS: Access to scripts.  You can request a copy of your marked exam paper.  This can be helpful if you are considering a review of marking or want feedback for future improvement.  There are two types: Priority scripts for those considering a review of marking and non-priority scripts for general review and feedback.

Candidates must provide their written consent for reviews of results. Candidates must also be aware that if a result is reviewed, the mark could stay the same, go up or go down and this should be considered when requesting a review of results. Further information can be found on the JCQ website: www.jcq.org.uk. Fees for post-results services (Access to Scripts, clerical re-checks, reviews of marking) are set and published independently by each awarding body.  The fee information is here.

Appeals:
If, after a review of marking, you still believe an error has occurred, you may be able to submit an appeal.  Appeals must be based on procedural errors or concerns over how the review was conducted.

The school will be open to advise on post-results services on: Thursday 21st August, Friday 22nd August (8am-4pm), Tuesday 26th August (8am-4pm), Wednesday 27th August (8am-4pm) and Thursday 28th August (8am-4pm). The exam’s inbox will not be monitored outside of these days. All post-results services will be submitted from the 1st September when the school re-opens.
