Immersive Reader is a free tool designed to help pupils listen to a text being read aloud. Pupils are now accessing most of their work online and face an increasing amount of written material to read particularly as they progress through the years to KS4 and GCSEs.
There are some pupils who need more time to read a text and process the information, there are those who are struggling readers for a variety of reasons, those with signs of dyslexia, dysgraphia, those with a visual impairment and pupils who have English as an additional language, such pupils would greatly benefit from using the Immersive Reader tool. They will be able to follow the text as it is being read – therefore helping to develop reading and pronunciation. In addition, pupils are able to change the speed at which a text is read enabling them to follow and understand the content. Immersive Reader is a tool which very much supports independent work.
