Spiritual Life of St Ursula’s school
“The range of opportunities to benefit from the Catholic life of the school is outstanding”OFSTED Section 48
The School has a Chaplain Susan Elderfield. Her role is to guide and support the spiritual needs of the school community by encouraging the school’s pastoral care for the whole school, pupils, staff and parents.
Sacrament of Reconciliation
During Advent and Lent all pupils and staff are given the opportunity to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Pupils came from 10.00am – 3.30pm every 5 minutes. It always a very special day that our Junior Liturgists help to organise.
Mass takes place in the school Chapel every Friday morning at 8.00am. This Mass is an opportunity to pray for any members of our school community
Key Stage 3 pupils also attend the Parish Mass on a rota basis taking a full and active part in the service.
Year 7 and year 8 have a day of retreat in School facilitated by outside providers. Year 9 have a three-day retreat to St Cassian’s, Kintbury. Years 10/11 are planning for a weekend retreat for the Summer Term.
Opportunities for day and residential retreats are very important for our students to experience various styles of prayer that are relevant and attractive for their age group. This experience enables them to develop their own spirituality and unique way of relating to God.
St Ursula’s as an Ursuline School has strong links to the worldwide network of Ursuline Schools. We regularly link with other local and international Ursuline Schools sharing our faith, learning and experiences.
